Special Needs attendees at the Auckland Table Tennis Stadium, January 2005

The Auckland Table Tennis Association (ATTA) As a contribution to the community, organises a no-charge coaching program for people with special needs on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Following a short demonstration, Liu Peimin, one of the ATTA resident coaches, and volunteers from the ATTA, play with attendees. to ensure everyone has a good time.

Successful sessions have been completed with a number of schools that cater for children who experience intellectual challenges. Feedback from attendees has been positive with children attesting to enjoying their table tennis experience immensely and asking to return at later dates.

Moving forward, the ATTA plans to organise regular visits from schools with Special Needs units and explore avenues to encourage participation in table tennis from people with physical challenges.
